Description
Tarkine Models Corrugation Tool – HO & S Scale – Revision B.
This simple and easy to use 3D Printed tool makes quick work of forming scale corrugated iron. Just pre-cut your aluminium foil/sheet place onto the base piece; make sure the top piece is orientated the same way as the base, then press down and rock, or slide. Flip the corrugation tool over to use the other scale.
NOTE: Foil NOT included. Due to the nature of 3D printing and producing such fine resolution corrugations, when looking closely, that the finish isn’t perfectly smooth and that there will naturally be very fine bumps as seen in the above example. Thicker foil will reduce the appearance, but will not 100% eliminate the texture and it is not normally noticeable when painted or viewed from a normal observation distance from models. This is only applicable to the HO/S Scale version of the tool. See photos for actual example of pressed foil.
What foil should I use?
– Foils up to 25 micron (0.02mm / 0.984 Thou) are recommended. Thicker foils such as 30 micron 0.03mm / 1.181 Thou) and above may not produce good results with this HO & S Scale version of the tool. We test each tool using 18 µm thick aluminium foil before packaging. Tarkine Models does not sell the required foil. We suggest contacting your local hobby store for foil up to the suggested maximum 25 µm thickness.
Instructions for use:
1. Just cut your aluminium foil or chosen material to size
2. Place cut material into the base piece.
3. Rock the top piece back and forward over the base piece (some materials may require sliding motion instead).
4. Place on your model building.
